Proposed Material Alterations

Following the Special Council meetings on the 19th and 24th June 2026, and having considered the Proposed Variation No. 2 to the County Development Plan 2022-2028 and the Chief Executive's Report in respect of submissions / observations received, the Elected Members of South Dublin County Council resolved in accordance with Section 58(13)(a)(ii)of the Planning and Development Act 2024 (as amended), that South Dublin County Council, to make material alterations to Variation No. 2 to the County Development Plan 2022-2028.

The proposed Material Alterations to Variation No. 2 and accompanying documents were on display at: https://consult.sdublincoco.ie/en/consultation/proposed-material-alterations-proposed-variation-no-2-south-dublin-county-development-plan-2022-2028. Written submissions or observations were made between Tuesday 7th July 2026 to Wednesday 5th August 2026 (inclusive).

The Chief Executive’s Report on submissions received in relation to the proposed Material Alterations to Variation No. 2 was submitted to the Elected Members on the 25th of September. The CE Report can be found by clicking on the 'CE Report on the Proposed Material Alterations' link below.

As part of the Elected Members consideration of the CE Report on the Proposed Material Alterations, a Special Meeting of the Council was held on the 19th of October 2026. As per Section 58(17) of the Planning and Development Act 2024, the elected members were required, by resolution, to:

Make the Variation as originally proposed;
Make the Variation with the Material Alteration(s); or
Refuse to make the Variation

Variation No. 2 to the South Dublin County Development Plan 2022-2028 was made, with the material alterations, at a Special Council Meeting on Monday 19th October 2026. Variation documents as made can be found by clicking on the 'Variation No. 2 as Made' link on the Variation No. 2 page.
